Students have been playing a game called close to 1,000 in math where the object of the game is to get as close to 1,000 as possible. Students are given cards with numbers on them. Students must then create two 3 digit numbers that add up to 1,000. For every number they are below or above 1,000, they earn a point (which they don't want!). I have enjoyed learning the different strategies students have been using to form their numbers. Ask your child what their strategy is for playing the game. Do they focus on the ones place or the hundreds first?
